Consistency is something we hear many successful people attribute to achieving their goals. I feel this is the aspect people struggle with the most, myself included. We have the desire and motivation to achieve something, and we set out to do it, but after a while, we stop. We make excuses and say, I’m tired, or I still have a lot of time, ill do it another day.

Consistency is a powerful force. A drop of water falling on a rock will eventually erode the rock given enough time. It is important to be consistent with things that make your life better because consistency can also work against you. If you constantly procrastinate or quit before you reach your goal, you are consistently failing. Negative consistency is harder to break away from than it is to develop positive consistency.

A trick I use is to start small and set myself realistic goals. Setting your goals too high is setting yourself up for failure. Achieving small victories and taking small steps is easier than trying to take a giant leap and falling short. Consistently making small improvements in your life will eventually lead to reaching bigger goals.
